Fantastic Weekly Pt 26 - 23.10.2020

I have worked on some bug fixes and preparing the terminal scene for the upcoming update in a few weeks. I have mostly been busy with other stuff, but I will share more material next week once I have fixed everything. :D

My recent fix has been related to the camera in base, since I have not been happy with the current one. I am making it move and rotate with one touch to the screen and zooming with a pinch. I’m considering putting a gyro-mode as well. ;)

Here’s the gyro camera rotation. What do you think? Would this be cool?



This week I looked into the shadows in our game, especially the monsters’ shadows since I wasn’t too happy about how the shadows follow the monsters. The shadows are faked with textures but the texture isn’t moving with the monsters’ animations at all so I tried to find a way to parent the shadows better. Here’s a gif of the parentings I tried. The middle one is what we currently have, the left is something I tried (but it’s horrible) and the right one is what I ended up with. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better!


This week I finished this cute cat-spider :D Big thanks to Noora, who gave me a lot of good critique and improvement suggestions to make this model much better. Here is final model:

This week I started two new 3D models from the list of craftables, but I did not have time to texture them yet. But I finished my first asset with 3 different color variations for it. It is a funny looking small retro television! :D
