HERRA HAUKI AT BALTIC SEA
Educational Game for children about the Baltic Sea
The game, created in co-operation with Punainen Norsu, tells a story of a beloved character Herra Hauki at the Baltic Sea. Herra Hauki is diving into an adventure in the shoreline and open waters of the Baltic Sea. The story carries from the shorelines to farms and summer cottages teaching children about the current state of the sea and the need to protect it. During the game, the player will learn what eutrophication means and how the Global Warming affects the sea, what actions to preserve and protect has already been done and what there still is to do to save the Baltic Sea.

GOAL AND DISTRIBUTION
The goal of the game is to increase the knowledge of the meaning, fragility, and state of our sea among pre-school and 1st-2nd-grade children.
Herra Hauki is a lovable pike and that is why the beloved character created by visual artist Oili Kokkonen, is learning with the player along the journey.
During the game, the player will also learn very concrete things, like the importance of recycling, that the child can take home.
The game is also being created with the Archipelago seaside research institute of the University of Turku to ensure that the facts are correct in the game. We also have the cooperation of the University of Turku - Department of Teacher Education, to ensure we make a game that has useful material to be used in education.
The game will be distributed to Finnish preschools and elementary schools for free. It will also be on sale at the Apple Store and Google Play store. A part of the profits from the stores will go to the preservation funds of the Baltic Sea. The game will be released in Spring 2020 in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English.
